This Blog will document progress on my 1964 VW bus. Hopefully some of the articles will help/inspire anyone interested in taking on a similar project.
I bought this Bus in Colorado 2005. I had a mechanical background, ( auto school, 5 years in auto trade) and had the dream of owning/restoring my own VDub bus head to toe.
I did. I went to night classes to learn body work, read up on engine building and managed to weld, straighten, build 1849cc engine, paint and restore brakes/suspension.
That was over 10 years ago! Time for a overhaul. Im not a seasoned veteran Bus restoration guru/pro but have successfully created a very enjoyable, (if I may) decent looking Bus. With what I have learned and experienced I will share. Thanks for visiting....
My Bus when I first picked it up with an old tired 1500cc.  2005.
I drove it 22 hours straight from Fort Collins CO to Northern California (loaded with belongings) in mid-Summer with no problems. I was very happy my first engine build was a success. It had about 90k on it before it seized. (Center main bearing)
